We’ve made it through winter! But more impressively, we’ve made it through the monotonous winter wardrobe rotation — when we are guilty of wearing the same outfit over and over and over again…sometimes in a single week. I’m still seriously considering labeling my sweaters with the days of the week (like the underwear we all wore as kids) to help with the confusion.
Spring fashion trends for 2019 have already been decided thanks to the catwalks in New York, Milan, Paris and London Fashion Week. For those of you who want big city fashion but are stuck with small town problems, I feel your pain…but fear not! Thanks to the internet and social media, we can get ahead of trends just as much as the Carrie Bradshaw’s of the world. Stores and people around you may be the last to pick up on the latest and greatest in fashion, but you can still avoid looking like everyone else once you are finally able to update your cold weather closet.
SHOP MY LOOK: Top (Carson’s closet, similar found here) | Bodysuit (Kendall + Kylie, Poshmark) | Jeans (HM, similar found here) | Shoes (Fila, Urban Outfitters) | Sunglasses (Poshmark, similar found here) | Purse (InTheStyle) | Earrings (HM, similar found here)
This Spring you’ll be seeing way more than just florals…groundbreaking! Here’s a list of my favorite trends to try for this upcoming season:
Trend #1 | Mother Of Pearl
If diamonds are a girl’s best friend, what does that make a pearl? Recently, pearls are a girl’s hair accessories (I found this variety pack for only $11 on Amazon), earrings, bag…you name it! This classic gem is making a serious comeback in multiple forms. It’s the perfect, polished accent to any outfit.
Trend #2 | Under The Neon Lights
To brighten your mood from the winter blues, incorporate neon into your wardrobe, especially lime green! True story: The last time I wore lime green was for my family’s church directory photo…at 10 years old, I was missing teeth and pinned butterfly clips in my hair. Thank goodness puberty and photo filters are on my side this time around! Because this trend is bold, keep everything else simple and neutral — I recommend denim!
Trend #3 | “I like your sleeves…they’re real big”
Puffy sleeves are back and ready to create some drama! If you want to make a statement, try this out via a dress or, a personal favorite of mine, a wrap top. As you can see from these photos, I opted for a twist on this trend that you can easily pull off too! I borrowed one of Carson’s white button ups and threw a corset bodysuit on top of it to create the same billowy sleeve effect.
Trend #4 | Hats Off To You
When the sun FINALLY shines long enough for you to see it as you leave work for the day, hats become way more important than to just keep your ears warm. Each style of hat has its own personality so find one that meshes well with you! Is a rancher hat your thing? Maybe the bucket hat? Or perhaps a woven straw hat is more your style?
Trend #5 | Saddle Up
Dior relaunched the iconic Saddle Bag inspired from Sex and The City and the 2000’s and the obsession has ensued ever since. Not wanting to shell out all of your savings on this amoeba-like shaped purse? Neither did I! You can definitely afford the trend and actually have tons of affordable options to shop. I recently saw it as a belt bag — how fun?!
Which trend puts a little extra spring in your step this season?
